Each day in December we will be sharing one of our favorite Christmas storybooks and an activity to go along. (Affiliate link included for your convenience.)
If I had to choose one Christmas book from my childhood as the absolute favorite it would have to be The Sweet Smell of Christmas. I have a new copy but I still have the original copy from our childhood. The little scratch and sniff stickers are scratched almost all the way down. When I read it to my students I let a few students come up to sniff each sticker so they each get a chance to smell one. They get so excited and always say "Mmmmm!" after their turn. I can still smell the pine tree smell from the Christmas tree page.
Book
The Sweet Smell of Christmas tells the sweet, simple story of Little Bear and his family as they anticipate Christmas. As they make their preparations, Little Bear knows that the holiday is fast approaching by the sweet scents he smells around him: gingerbread cookies, candy canes, hot chocolate, pine trees and even a Christmas orange.
Activity
The holiday season is rich with delicious scents. One activity that smells delicious and will be easy for your little ones today is making a pomander from an orange and cloves.
