Concept: compound words
Game Type: board game for 2-4 players
Includes: Game board, 16 cards, rules, instructions, and a bonus skill sheet
A compound word is made when two smaller words are joined together to make a new word. For example, the words butterfly, airplane, popcorn, and rainbow are all compound words. Learning compound words is important because often times a compound word takes on a new meaning unrelated to the two smaller words, like with butterfly.
Gingerbread Compounds is a delightful holiday themed game that is a great way to practice recognizing and using compound words. With the game cards and different board spaces, players use compound words in a variety of ways including naming compound words already known, combining words to make compound words, and identifying compound words in sentences. The object of Gingerbread Compounds is to move around the board and be the first to reach the gingerbread house at the end.
All of the cards are labeled so if they get misplaced you can instantly return them to their home. As an extra bonus, with Gingerbread Compounds you also receive a special skill sheet to give your student additional practice with compound words!
